And Where's Her Apology To Sussex Police?

Sussex police are finally to apologise to the mother of a disabled 11 year-old girl four years after her daughter was restrained in a spit hood but are refusing to rule out using the controversial technique on children again.
Quite right, too. Has this woman no flicker of shame? She's the one who called the police in the first place!
Matt Webb, chairman of the local branch of the Police Federation, representing rank and file officers, also defended their use to protect his members from illness.
He said: “It is absolutely unacceptable to have the view that an officer should allow themselves to be spat at by a member of the public no matter what their age and mental capacity.
“It is a vile and disgusting form of assault and any force that fails to provide spit hoods to officers is, in our view, neglecting their duty of care to officers.
I don’t see it makes any difference whether it is a child spitting at me or an adult, the potential is still exactly the same in regard to the risk to an officer or an individual.”
Good for you, Matt. Pity the top brass don't have the balls to tell this inadequate parent just where to go.

And that they won't be turning up the next time her brat kicks off, unless an innocent member of the public is threatened.

Spit hoods are in the news at the moment. I'm very much in favour. It's irrelevant the age/colour/sex etc of the spitter, don't spit don't get hooded up.Simple really.
We have been trained on the use of them recently until our top brass lost their bottle as usual. They are one-use and do not restrict breathing. They were originally going to be white but because of the KKK they have been changed to beige.I kid you not!!
Let's now hear from the policing expert MTG. He has dealt with numerous violent people and he should be regarded with quiet awe.

Good Morning, WPC Jaded. First permit compliments for your 'inglish' which is just as much a mild challenge to interpret as it is a pleasure.

The very concept of placing hoods over the heads of young and disabled children whilst they are in custody, must fill any decent citizen with disgust and revulsion. That it is allegedly often done without justification, simply to humiliate and degrade the arestee, is a practice which is totally alien to the principles of any civilised society. When Tasers were first introduced in the UK, 'their' was an implied assurance that it was not a weapon for use against young/disabled children. However, the UK government has instructed Mr Plod to cease tasering children, after figures revealed that the use of the 50,000-volt stun guns on minors increased by 38 per cent in just one year.

WPC Jaded postulates that spit-hoods are...."one-use and do not restrict breathing"...but should this assurance mirror that which once propounded there would be 'no lasting harm resulting from Taser usage' we should also expect death related statistics for spit-hoods, in due course.

Hello Melvin,Nursey letting you use the laptop this afternoon?
"Any decent citizen" is a great phrase.Any decent citizen would probably be revolted that a vile person would spit in anyone's face. The spitter's age is irrelevant.

There was no assurance given that Tasers would not be used against children or the disabled. A knife in the hand of one of those still causes damage. The increase in taser use is NOT people being shot as you know full well.If the taser is even drawn and not fired that counts as a usage.

I await with bated breath MTG for your method of dealing with violent thugs. Read them Shakespeare? Latin quotes? Come on,you're the expert.
Jaded.

Two grammar mistakes Melvin? Oh dear. Being a pompous arse is your only weapon. Still no answers to my questions either.

Equal treatment under the law! Remember when that was a goal..?

"The very concept of placing hoods over the heads of young and disabled children whilst they are in custody, must fill any decent citizen with disgust and revulsion."

As Jaded points out, any 'decent citizen' would be far more revolted by the idea that police should expect to be spat on by an out of control arrestee. I certainly am.
